The Discovery Trail Area includes the Forest Discovery trail and CFIRP Trail. These trails are located adjacent of the Peavy Arboretum to the west, and traverse a variety of forest types. These are relatively easy forest trails, just perfect for folks out for a quick run or a shorter hike.

Forest Discovery Trail can be accessed from Peavy Arboretum's western parking lot. Forest Discovery Trail is a hiker-only trail loop that is 1.25 miles long with a 67 foot gain in elevation. This trail cross the 510 Road twice and intersects with CFIRP Trail, a trail that showcases forest research projects. Forest Discovery Trail offers visitors an opportunity to learn about different habitats within a Pacific Northwest forest, as well as the research being conducted in areas along this trail. Species along this trail include ponderosa pine and Port-Orford-cedar. Come take a hike along Forest Discovery Trail and take advantage of the opportunity to observe several different forest habitats!
