A hiker-only trail just under two-tenths of a mile long with little to no gain in elevation, Pond Trail offers an up close glimpse of Randall Pond, Peavy Arboretum's manmade pond. Randall Pond showcases a demonstration fish ladder. Although fish do not actively spawn in the pond or streams, the fish ladder offers educational and demonstrational learning opportunities for students and visitors. Many native riparian species are located along the trail near the pond, including red-osier dogwood, alder, and willow. Identification posts with common and scientific names are located in front of trees along this trail. Viewing decks and picnic tables are situated around the pond where visitors can rest and enjoy the beauty of the area. An interpretive sign is also found along the trail, providing visitors with information about fish ladders. Be on the lookout for crawfish and newts on sunny days!
